I recently rebuilt my 1990 300zx (NA) and decided it was ready for a road trip, unfortunately, it was not. Half way through my trip, it felt as if one cylinder died, and as I pulled into my destination, the car was even weaker. My car actually stalled on location, and a bunch of people helped roll me in to a spot. So now my car is 100 miles away and not working. This weekend I went up to work on my car, bringing new 02 sensors, because the old ones had destroyed wiring and were disconnected to prevent fire, and some brand new spark plugs, because I thought they where fouled (which they where) The problem was still not solved. I continue to crank my car, and it will not start. Here is the procedure I followed, hopefully someone can help me out I am stumpedAll of the injectors are OK, I checked for a tick with a screwdriver The plugs are obviously new I cleaned the coil packs with brake parts cleaner (just the connector and the mating surface with the plug) I put a battery tester into the coil pack connector, and got a spike when it was supposed to fire. I put a new spark plug into the coil pack and did not get a spark, I got a very small reading when i filled the gap with the battery tester and grounded the other end. I did this with another different coil which came out the same At this time I got pissed off and quit, and drove 3 hours back home. So here are the options, and none of the above is also a choice Did I kill the coil packs with break cleaner ( I waited for them to dry, and that stuff flashes quickly)? Is the PTU busted? There was a recall for them on my car, and being a 3rd or potentially 4th owner, how am i supposed to know if it was already replaced Did I quit to early? Should I check all 6 coil packs? do they really just drop off in droves like that? Im completely lost and broke, I am about ready to beat the shit out of this car with a bat, please someone help me
