The symptoms were: almost stalling at a stop, very poor acceleration until about 2000 rpm with pumping the accelerator just to get going. I was about 5 miles, and 3 or 4 stop lights to get home. These new and never before symptoms, persisted until I got home. I then noticed an odd smell, and excessive crackling type sounds from the cats? I ran the ecu diagnostic, and code 13 (coolant temp sensor) came up. I then cleaned the sensor, (need a new one), and now the car runs great again. For all the old guys familiar with cars with carbs and chokes; in retrospect, these problems were very similar to a stuck choke; extemely rich fuel mix causing poor running? Does the bad signal from the temp sensor make the engine think it's cold? and richen the mixture? Sorry for the long post, but maybe it will be helpful to someone. scoops
