| bliZard... a huge thanks! I'd buy you a beer or two if you were closer! Apparently the tag under the hood with "ATF" and 94,000km written on it did not mean what I thought it did... I just finished draining the fluid and replacing the filter - and what a mess! The fluid itself was a sick brown and absolutely reeked, the magnet in the pan was saturated with fine iron particles and the intake screen, sure enough, was completely clogged. After draining the fluid and replacing the filter unit, pan & gasket I gave it 3.5 litres of ATF (sorry about the metric units) went for a drive around the block checked the levels, gave it another half litre, went for a short test drive and everything was great - no re-occurrence of the previous problems. The only thing that concerns me is that there were a few chunks of copper in the intake screen that looked like they could have come off of a thin disk, a bushing maybe? Does anyone have any ideas? I might post up pictures of the pieces if I get around to it. So now I'll drive it for a few weeks and drain and replace the fluid again. Seeing as how disgusting the fluid was, I might even do a triple change just to make sure... Thanks again.
