I recently had a bit of bad luck. My key broke off in the ignition. We had to take the steering column apart and remove the ignition to get the steering wheel unlocked so I could drive the car home. Now, one of the wires leading to the ignition switch has come loose. It connects underneath a plastic shield, it looks like. Can I safely remove this shield? It looks as though I'll have to break it to remove it. Furthermore, can the wire even be re-attached, or do I have to get a new ignition switch?
