I am having an odd intermittent on/off problem with my AC lately. The other day I started the car, let it warm up a bit and headed out. Right when I shifted to second the AC turned off. Not only did it turn off but the display on the AC column reading 70 went out, however the car continued to drive fine. Once I stopped and put the car in neutral the AC turned back on as well as the display. I turned around and got the car back in the garage, once parked I pressed the petal in neutral the AC would turn back off. I got out and pulled the throttle cable gently and same thing. It seems whenever there is a load on the system the AC turns off. If I live the car idling in neutral the AC will run fine and the air is as cold as the day I bought the car. Today I had the car running, AC was turned off but the 70 degree display is still lit and I noticed again when I pressed on the gas the display turns off. My theories so far, it could have been the AC compressor clutch slipping, freon is low in the car causing the system to automatically shut down as to not damage the compressor, or electrical short. I have checked the fuses and even changed the blue relay fuse for the AC under the hood. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!
