Subject	is the problem my alternator?

Message	i came to a stop last night and my car shut off and would not start. the only light which turned on was my antilock light. dash was dim and subwoofer only was making a high pitched sqeal. i jumped the car and got it home, and now when i start it my stereo, radar detector, and ciggerette lighter dont work. My question is, its probably the alternator but why is the sub making that sound and not the speakers? could it be anything else?
