Message My dad just bought himself a 95 NA coupe and it seems to have a power steering problem. I know that we have varying assist for the steering based on speed. At low speeds, it's fine to drive but at higher speeds, it still stays "light." I glanced through the FSM and found that sitting still I should have 6.6V at the steering valve. I have 12V. Unplugging the PS pressure switch does nothing, but unplugging the valve itself completely solves the high speed problem. However, it leaves the steering "heavy" at low speeds. I'm sure it has something to do with the power steering control unit and/or speedometer. He's fine leaving it unplugged as it's still pretty easy to turn at low speeds, but I'd like to see this resolved. Anyone have any suggestions on where to go from here? I'm not even sure where the control unit is.
