so far this maintenance has gone really well, but when i was tapping the new pilot bushing in using a socket with a smaller diameter, like you just suggested, it slipped to one side, putting it off center, which is what caused the marring you see in the picture. ultimately i used the old pilot bushing to tap it in the rest of the way without further incident.i just figured that since this was the first time i had done this sort of work, i'd see if what happened to me is common and okay, or if it's definitely something that needs to be addressed. it seems like it's clearly the second. i just didn't want to assume that i had totally screwed up, try again (order parts, etc) only to have something similar happen and only then learn that it's normal. andrew davidoff
