Message There is always a bit of condensation inside the fuel tank. Maybe the ethanol absorbs the water and makes the ethanol/gasoline blend somewhat conductive. Even if there is a constant 12v going to the injector, without the grounding signal from the ECU there isn't going to be any current flow.
The redesigned harness of the 95+ was probably for fire safety measures.
