Message Not in my Z32,but in two of my antique cars that, because of their age (both from the middle 1950's) , I had little faith in their factory temp gauge systems. Go to a Grainger's Industrial Supply store (or search online) for a Taylor 9940 Thermometer. This $26.00 USD unit has a digital readout panel (measuring 1 inch x 1 inch x 3 inches), runs on one AAA battery, reads from -40 degrees F to =300 degrees F (or the same range in Celcius degrees with the flick of a switch), comes wired with 10 feet of wire to the temperature probe (wired on the end) which is half the diameter of a pencil and about an inch long. The digital readout can go anywhere in the car (I placed them in the ashtrays of my antiques) and ran the wire through the firewall and along the bottom of heater hoses etc. (black wiretied them out of sight) all the way forward to the top radiator hose at the radiator. Here I simply drained off some coolant to lower the level, undid the hose clamp, slid off the hose, put the end of the temp probe into the rad opening and installed the hose and clamp right on top of the wire. I was careful to really tighten down the clamp to overcome any leaks because of the wire. Now I have very accurate readings, there are no modifications to worry about, and I can return the car to stock in less than 20 minutes if I need to at some car show. Good Luck!
