| Hi, I was hoping for your input on this issue I had. This only happened once yesterday. I have a 1993 2+2 NA. When going from a stop light, my car wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. It's an automatic. It revved up to 4000rpm so I thought that it didnt feel right as it should've shifted already. I wasn't getting any acceleration. Kinda felt like I ran out of gas but I had plenety of gas. Anyways, it revved up to 4000rpm and still didn't shift into second gear (usually this happens around 2000-2500 rpm). So I pulled over on the side. Opened the hood, closed the hood. Then tried going again without any problems. The car only has 55,000 miles. I got the transmission fluid changed out today along with the filter and gasket. The transmission fluid that was changed out had a red tinge to it and the mechanic said it was dirty. The transmission shifts fine now and the not shifting hasn't happened for about 50 miles. Should I be worried? Could this be the transmission computer acting up? Should I buy a backup transmission computer for back up? I want to be reassured because i'll be going on a trip from San Diego to San Francisco in a few weeks. This happened a few hours after I changed a couple of my tires at Sears Auto (btw don't go to Sears Auto--they're terrible)--not sure if this had anything to do with it. Thanks in advance for your help.
