I just stripped the JDM downpipes off my JDM TT motor that I am gutting. When I get back to the states, I might have to drop the tranny on my new Z to replace the clutch (hopefully it just needs a clutch pedal adjustment). If I drop the tranny, it would be a perfect chance to change out the precats. The issue is the exhaust. I can pick up a used HKS for about $350. If I use the JDM downpipes, I'll need a JDM exhaust since they mount differently. If I gut the USDM precats, I'll just get an aftermarket USDM exhaust. JDM exhausts do not have precats (hence, the downpipes). Would this setup be more beneficial than gutted precats? I know I could always buy aftermarket all the way from the turbos but that's more than I can afford right now.
