I don't care what anyone says. The dremel method is great. I was worried about having trouble yanking the old injector out since I had to use a vice to press out a good injector out of an old fuel rail. Those things are really in there! But I think PB Blaster really helped me on this one. I must've sprayed the Phillips head screws that hold the injector cap at least 3 times (and let it soak overnight) before I tried to break the screws loose. They came out fine...I never had to use pliers or anything other than the screwdriver. Pulling the old injector out took a little more time, but it finally wiggled its way out. I had also given it a couple shots of PB around the edge. The point is...the Dremel method is easy compared to a virgin plenum pull. Injector pics...

The replacement is a used injector out of a J30 that ohm'd out to specs. I reused the Phillips head screws...and the damage you see to the head of the one on the right was actually done while trying to tighten it...not loosen. I plan on replacing the entire rail since it has nearly 150k on it when I do a plenum pull. I'll use the stainless Allen head bolts too.

And now a quick photo tour of pulling the water pipes off, replacing the thermostat with OEM, and installing my polished pipes with the Autometer sender tapped in between the stock holes. I also gave the timing belt covers and fan shroud a quick shot of high-temp low gloss black paint. The engine bay is SLOWLY on it's way to looking better...

I just noticed this today. On the injector I pulled out...it had some numbers engraved on it...(121 11-00). So it would appear the previous owner replaced this injector in Nov. 2000? I have no idea what the 121 could mean since the car had less than 121k miles when this would've been done. I remember seeing some receipts that mentioned injector connector replacement...but it seems odd that an injector was replaced...even more odd that it might've failed in only 50-60k miles of driving. Anyone have any ideas as to what the engraving could mean?

The Z is running much better...as good as an NA can run. I just hope injectors don't start dropping like flies. Hopefully they can hold out until the plenum pull. Thanks for reading :)
