someone emailed me about this, so I thought I'd post it for everyone's benefit: Z32 300ZX Headliner Removal 1. Remove T-tops. You'll need them off for removing some trim later, but might as well take them off now to give you some more light. 2. Remove rearview mirror. See my amplified antenna install post about how to get the little base cover off. After removing the cover, just unscrew the three Phillips screws. 3. Remove visors. Two Phillips screws in each of the pivot bases (towards doors) and one in each of the clips (towards center of car). 4. Remove map light assembly. Insert a small flat-bladed screwdriver between the headliner and the map light assembly. Pry down. The map light assembly should pop down and hang by its wiring. Disconnect map light assembly at electrical connector and set aside. 5. Remove dome light assembly. Use a small flat-bladed screwdriver to pop off the dome light lens. At the front of the dome light base, there should be a small Phillips screw. Remove that screw and tilt the front of the dome light base down. You should then be able to slide the dome light base down and forward out of the headliner. Disconnect the dome light base at its connector and set aside. 6. Remove the plastic caps at the top of each A-pillar. These are the ones that have a hole for the front T-top pins to go through and then a single Phillips screw. Remove that Phillips screw and then the cap on each side. 7. Remove the A-pillar covers. There are three push-in clips inside each A-pillar cover that hold it on plus one hook-type clip at the base of each A-pillar down by the dash. Pull the top of the cover away from the A-pillar in order to free it from the three push-in clips. Then, slide it up along the A-pillar to undo the hook-type clip at the base. 8. Remove the Phillips screws on the top front sides of the B-pillars (the ones that are next to the rear T-top pin holes). 9. Remove the T-top trim strips. Start at the A-pillar and pull off in a horizontal plane into where the T-top should be. 10. Remove the top inner windshield trim strip. Start on either end and pull it off in a forward and down direction. 11. Remove the map light bracket screw. Go back to the recess where the map light goes. At the front of that recess, there should be a screw holding a metal bracket that holds the headliner to the roof. Remove that screw. 12. Remove the headliner. At this point, the front of the headliner should be hanging down into the passenger compartment. Almost all the edges should be free with the exception of the back edge and the rear side edges. I was able to pop one of the rear side edges out and free the rest of the headliner that way. You might have to pull the B-pillar covers out a little in order to free the rest of the headliner. You'll see what I mean when you get to this step. ![](http://www.botos.com/david/headlinerhangin.jpg)
13. Re-installation is pretty much the reverse of removal.
