Message Important points to ponder:

1) Remove the VTC valves in the back of your stock cams and install into the new JWTs (JWT cams do not come with the valves).

2) From your profile you have a '91 Z so you probably have early model VTC sprockets. You will need to use the JWT cam spacers with early model sprockets on the JWT 500s. The spacers come with longer dowel pins that will need to be installed in the JWT cams. The cams already have dowel pins installed, but they are too short for use with the spacers and will need to be removed. Save yourself some grief and take the cams to a machine shop to remove the dowels with a puller. They are 4mm OD, so just call around and see who has a puller for metric dowels, if they're cool, it shouldn't cost much more than $10.

3) For maximum perforamance you should install stronger valve springs per JWT's recommendations. Look for springs capable of 70 to 80 lbs pressure when installed a-la JWT, JUN, Tomei or Ferrea. I like the Ferrea's, but IMO these require special machining to install them properly. You will need to remove the heads to install the valve springs.

4) Shameless plug - the stronger valve springs will eventually cause your VTC sprockets to make noise. When they do, see me.

5) Mark the cam bearing caps prior to removing them so they can be installed in the same locations when reassembled.

6) To reduce the chance of stripping threads, use some oil on the cam cap bolt threads when reassembling. This applies especially if the heads and bolts have been thoroughly cleaned.
