OK... here's the symptoms... Car drives normally, maintains 178'F on the digital gauge... I smell coolant and intermitently see drips coming from the driver's side of the bell housing...
If i rev up the car...after driving around... the tempature will drop to about 174 or 172 (i think its cycling the cooler coolant to the sensor... i dunno?) If i turn off the car...and wait a few seconds...steam will start pouring out of the back of the driver's side of the engine...
I've located the leak... by jacking up the car, going underneathe... if i sqeeze the lower radiator hose coolant easily seeps out hear...a coolant line for the driver's side turbo charger...
I've determined that the only way to fix this problem ...is to drop the transmission. My question to you folks is... Due to the fact that...its an arm and a leg to do that without changing the clutch and O2's... (which is what i ALSO would do if i did it) If its not overheating...and only seems to drip a bit while i'm driving... you guys think its ok to just keep checking the level...and adding as nessesary? 178....dropping to 174 when revving... i mean...thats really not hot at all...
Does anyone know the coolant route...? I want to know which hose gets hot first...the top of the bottom...since they enter the water pump area side by side... Any help would be GREATLY appreciated... i know theres only a hand ful of guys that actually do this stuff themselves...so yea...
Turbo lag... is like a gentleman's way of saying 'ladies first'...
