Yes. The aftermarket radiator (not a name brand) was a terrible design and wouldn't fill the system properly. The filler neck was at 45* and would not fill high enough to get overflow to vent the large amount of air trapped on the first heat cycle. I was paranoid with this engine build and didn't think the rad was a problem since it was working when I received the car. So I did a lot of tail chasing looking at everything else.
