Message it isn't rusted all the way through at the red arrows and that it must have been some big impact that helped it fail, maybe after being weakened. Even if it didn't cause the failure completely, I still feel like rust from water/moisture being retained against the raw steel of the tube is an issue. Maybe small amounts of rust could help create a fatigue crack or cause binding. Reading around the web, I saw it brought up more than once on a few forums discussing proper greasing and it seemed to particularly apply here with our steel arms.

Also for whatever its worth, the poly bushing being installed into raw steel seems unique to just these few rear control arms. Where other poly bushings require the factory sleeve is retained, the Energy Suspension Rear Subframe bushings are another that come to mind that retain the OEM sleeve.
