It's Edmonton Z Car Club annual club show time again! So grabbed a bundle of nasty old VG30 old pistons
This year, instead of hand polishing the carboned-up old things, I took them to my powdercoater, who let me play with his new media blasting cabinet

5 minutes in the cabinet per piston. Last year it took 2 hours to clean and polish by hand and the results were.... OK
better than new
It's an aluminum oxide powder/water blaster cabinet... I think I want one. Leaves a smooth, soft finish.
Some JB Weld to firm the piston up
Drill for base mount
Tap for the base screw
Like so:
Bases are made from kayu batu hardwood leftovers from my front porch and balcony decking... super hard wood with cedar weathering properties. Easy to work with and looks great with some stain.
Now we need some club logos
and plaques for each category
production line
Ready for show!
Cheers,
