I've worked on the gamut and the Z's engine bay is really not that bad in the performance space. Any time you try to get a big, high performance engine in a small package you're going to have to compromise. Thankfully the Z and most euro manufacturers put a lot of thought into making things actually serviceable. Audi however... well at least they have service mode.
