Message I installed an Ls7 into a 2007 Solstice with a T56. While the swap is a breeze compared to adapting the trans to a VG engine in a Z32 unibody, I want to dispel any dreams on how wonderful the T56 is. With ample gear choices, you will be able to select favorable ratios for the VG torque and diff ratio. The parts are way more tolerant to high power and the quality of construction is adequate. But after several 1000 miles of careful break in, shifting is stiff and notchy and you can hear it inside the car.
Making sure the adapting plate centers the input shaft properly into the flywheel's pilot bearing is no easy task. Trusting and aftermarket supplied adapting plate dimension is a risky proposition. A slight misalignment will work well for a long time,
I have a BMW 235 whose trans is like butter. With a tilted in-line 6 having more torque and a different diff ratio, adapting such a trans may not be possible. The gear ratios will likely not be ideal.
