| Anyone know what the OEM plating is on these engine bay parts on early models with the green plated finish? See Pics below. I had hood hinge vapor blasted to clean it up.
Process is not very agressive, basically knocks off surface corrosion, dirt, etc. with pressurized water mist and very very fine media. Guy said the green came off basically with no effort at all.
Underneath I am trying to understand if there is still a zinc finish (below the green). As shown in the pic, I think this may be a zinc left... it has a iridescent type glimmer under the light, so I don't think it's down to bare metal. My guess is green is an oxide, but below is a zinc type plating? Not too convinced the green alone would prevent rusting etc. on it's own as intended from Nissan... Obviously a concern here is that this got reinstalled and was going to corrode and rust. I do have a corrosion inhibitor that is clear I plan to spray on it regardless before putting back in.
