I did soap and water, dried in the sun, then coated with the dupli-color. Some of this coat pulled up with the masking tape that I applied to protect from spray-adhesive while doing the suede. for the final coat, I roughed the duplicolor with red scotchbrite, then cleaned with micro-fiber and Southern Polyurethane water-born wax and grease remover because I had some left over from the paint job. obviously i don't recommend duplicating this, but I will try to report back on how the adhesion was long-term. What I can say is that the coating remains flexible enough that I can deform it with a finger press and it doesnt crack or chip. Pretty sure both companies sell their own prep-spray, so using one of those would probably be the best bet.
