I posted a little bit ago about being disappointed with the dupli-color charcoal trim paint. SEM was reccommended but I picked up some from Hi-Tech industries also to see which was the best match for (30 year old) OEM charcoal.
Looking at the lids I couldn't tell a difference. The SEM looks a million times better than duplicolor, but is not a perfect match. Seems to have a little bit more blueish tint?
Hi-tech is noticably darker and imo looks like a better match
Here they are side by side, Indeed Hi-tech is darker. This is what I decided to use. They both have a very good "vinyl" feel, unlike the Duplicolor which was chalky feeling.
So there it is. Neither is a perfect match, Hi-tech is slightly closer imo, but either would be a good fit, especially if you will do all the trim in the same color. (I plan to only do the doors, but will see how out of place it looks when the car is back together. probably going to wrap the dash, I think that is where it would be the most noticeable.
