Message The factory brake calipers sit so close to the hub that most spoke designs haven't even flared out yet to give clearance. Sometimes spacers are needed even on conservative offsets due to shallow spoke design. Newer aggressive wheels & sizes have more concavity on the spoke design that flares out to give clearance on larger brake calipers, but funny enough don't clear the factory caliper location.
