newer models are the MSX 5.0, their base model. I have one of the chargers that is designed to repair the battery, but I've never used any of its features. I haven't determined current draw; but it is my understanding the amount of charge is variable based upon the charger's diagnostic data and battery state of charge. Most of my cars have been on the CTEKs for more than five years. Plug in and check on them once every two months. It's a no brainer for cars like my big Jag Coupe that has about three weeks of charge in the battery before things get wonky because of low levels.
