The fulcrum is moved UP in the body of the unit vs stock.
Modified stock shifters cannot relocate the fulcrum point, it's in the base. They change the lengths of the lever around the same fulcrum point location. Which means that the bottom section of the lever will be closer to the driveshaft and it changes the angle which the transmission striker works from and it makes the lever in the cabin shorter.
