The map selector sets you up with a variety of tunes for different ethanol contents. You fill up at the pump, read what the ethanol content ends up at, and choose the map for it. Then set your boost controller for the peak boost for that map.

It's a little bit manual, but that's the way to do it without a standalone. I recall someone stealing the diagnostic potentiometer to act as a ethanol content input to the ECU, and using ?nistune? to map for ethanol content. That'd be pretty trick, but require in person tuning.
