Message Re your Q: Body Sections had been painted by different shops and they didn't match each other. Not a big item, maybe $2000 in total for paint. Also the Interior was remarkable for 200K miles, but it needed new radio bezel, and hatch retractable cover. Again not a lot, but it all adds up.

I probably could have performed a decent running swap for under $20,000, including the car purchase. But I didn't want to keep the worn out 4.08 differential, the AC needed work, etc. Also the shop fees could have been avoided if I choose to do everything myself. But given they specialized in LS transplants, I was happy to have them do the heavy lifting, and sort out the electronics for me.

This was my first time rebuilding a whole car as a single project, and as others who have done it before can attest, watching the numbers add up so quickly was an education in itself.
