1.) With door open, if locked from the inside and then shut, the door will become unlocked and you can open it using the inside or outside door handle. 2.) I'm not real sure on this one, but I believe if you lock it from the inside, you can open it from the inside without flipping the "lock/unlock" button by using the inside door handle. If you open the driver door then lock it from the inside with the "lock/unlock" button and then hold the outside door handle up while closing the door, it will (should) lock both doors. Works that way on my 1990 TT. Jerry
