Message And you are correct, IMO that unsupported rear void is a sad disappointment with such a stylish looking spoiler.

Process:
After bonding the spoiler to the hatch with Sikaflex, my paint-guy made some urethane fillers for the void and caulked everything flat to edge of the hatch with the same Sikaflex. After painting, I did not install the OE back left and back right hatch trim pieces since the hand opening that remained in the center didn't look right with the new spoiler. Instead, I found some black D shaped self-adhesive foam seal at a local hardware store and applied a single strip all along the bottom of the caulked spoiler void, and individual strips for the tail lights and center panels... placing them so the top and bottom strips contacted when when the hatch is closed. The spoiler is solid and no fumes or leakage at the joint now.
