Ok. I wasn't sure why the engineers change stuff sometimes, as they never let on. Seems that they put that rubber trim there for some reason initially, but didn't use it later due to cost. But I think when they cut costs and eliminate some parts, they may sometimes decide what's an 'acceptable' amount of risk and what's not. I'll put either the stock rubber trim back on (if I feel like drilling this part even though it just got painted) or will at least put some after market stick on trim to properly seal that section when the hood is closed. I relocated my PTU to that area under the cover and definitely don't want a waterfall of rain pouring in there if I'm driving the car during a downpour.
