Message 1) Carlos Goshn is back in jail... he was the one who revived the Z line in 2003 and pushed for the GTR... Nissan has a corporate hate-on for him. We've been strung along now for years about a Z successor with zip, zilch, nada, bupkis at the shows or even credible production rumours. Nissan has dramatically shifted from performance oriented cars to beige boring boxes... because, profit!

2) We were at the big autoshow this weekend and we spent 5 min in the Nissan display. They were flogging the most boring bunch (Rogue, Kicks, Murano & Qashqai) of vehicles there and the 370Z and GTR were at the back, pretty much left out. There was no push for anything sports car like there at all. Nothing in the pipeline either from the Nissan reps.

3) Sports cars in general are getting bigger, heavier and pricier. And more rare. Based on our survey at the autoshow, we're in the same drought we were in the late 90's... the money is in SUVs so that's what car manufacturers are building... Fucking Lambo and Rolls Royce have ugly as sin and twice as expensive SUVs out. Porsche's moneymaker is the Cayenne, and they were exclusively a sports car manufacturer.

4) All of our wishing will not bring back anything like the Z32. Nissan gave us a top line V6 twin turbo technological unit in the R35 GTR. They won't be bringing that level of development and tech to the rest of the line. Best you'll get is discounted old tech 370Z until there is a dramatic shift in Nissan's management. Infiniti has more going on with the Q50 & Q60... but again, they're shooting for a higher price point, we won't be seeing VR30DDTT's in Nissan products.
