Message	so sure there are ways to get the powertrain up to snuff. But the build quality/caliber of the 86 is far below what everyone has come to expect from a Z, especially a world class sportscar. The 86 is basically a 240SX and no one would lump the 240SX in with the Z, but you could make the case that the 240SX is more in-keeping with the original Z's than everything that came after. 30 years ago...or now?
