Message Well in about 6 months we will likely get a look at the
next Z...we'll either be elated or hugely disappointed.
I think they'll get the mechanicals right: twin turbo, 6 cylinder, rear wheel drive, not a cross-over, and not a
hybrid, lighter. The biggie will be the design. Unlike concept cars of the past, which came out a couple of years before the production version so companies could gauge reception of the design, the trend now is to have a concept that is nearly the production version (a commercial) with opportunities for minor styling tweaks.

Since the 370Z is on its way out, and to avoid a gap like they did between 1996 and 2003, they will need to have the 400Z ready to roll out in 2020 ( its also the 50th anniversary of the Z ). So what we see at the Tokyo Auto Show is what we're going to get. As Nissan's Senior Vice President of Global Design Alfonso Albaisa said about the new Z:

"The Z-car, oh my god. Huge pressure."

Let's all hope its a winner so we can give our Z32s a new
baby brother.
