Found the pieces in the floor under the pedal and realized my brake lights were on. Had a bunch of those clips (often used for fender liners and plastic pieces). Popped it in and has worked for a while. I picked up a bag of them on ebay for a few bucks and keep a spare or two in the glove box.
I read at the time of people using superglue or some adhesive and attaching a penny.
I wonder how much difference there is in the rubber stopper- i've seen some generic ones listed at parts stores (Dorman, etc).
