Message	It is not close to the mating surface of the cam shaft and seal. If you scored the any of the mating surfaces, then you would be hosed. FYI, a proper (and cheap) seal puller works amazingly well on these cam seals, with no drama or worries about scoring with the flathead method. Regarding rust on the cam sprocket, you might as well remove the rust while they're out. Don't think it is a big deal, but no reason not to clean it up.
