What you need to know about 5 bolt down-pipes and turbos for the Z32. Specialty Z vs Alloy toyZ mated to gt2854s, gtx286xx, gtx29xxs & gtx30xx turbos. I have known about this issue had a good opportunity to this week to compare side by side these turbochargers and down-pipes Spoiler, your better off with SZ's and SZ are a must for pretty much,29, and gt30s (i didnt have a disco or gt286x on hand, please chime in with a photo and measurement if you do). If your going with a GTX29 or GTX30 we know that the alloy toy down-pipes are too small and will choke your turbos exhaust. Several times my customers have dropped of builds with Alloy toys down pipes that we had to order in the correct SZ pipes to suit there turbos. Maybe this will save you some hassle. The AlloyToyz have a 46mm turbine tube inlet The Specialty-Z have a 55mm turbine inlet, 8mms larger The GTX2860 gen 2 is 49mm ( measured by Tarik Laaraj) The GTX2967 turbo outlet diameter is 52mm The GTX3071 turbine outlet diameter is 56mm More captions and notes are attached to each photo. Alloy toyz have a flange divider that was origanally introduced to reduce turbulence. But after tuning gt28 cars on breather mods it became apparent that this divider caused boost creep because it blocked to out wastegate gases from easily leaving the turbine housing. SZ simply no long produced theres with the divider. Note i have not seen the boost creep issue in any other set ups such as: 2.5 down pipes with full breathers 3inch down pipes with dividers on smaller turbos such as 550s, 530s or anything in the gt25 family
