Until there's even a concept, nothing means anything. I think there's a three way debate inside the company and as the second tier (at best) sports car within Nissan, there's no consensus of what the next Z should be. 370z sales numbers indicate that the current plan isn't working - so go big, go small or go home. Options 1 & 2 are incredibly expensive, and in an automotive culture where risk taking - and potential failure - are unacceptable, you are better off not trying at all. Let's be honest - the only time the company has gone "all in" on the Z was the Z32 - and even it may have been unprofitable. I have a hard time believing that whatever comes out of this design cycle will be of value.
