You're comparing your old tech Z (pre OBDII) to newer tech cars. They have a host of features the Z does not, specifically the ability to cut back boost/ timing when they sense knock. The GReddy boost controller in the Z is not tied to the engine management. When it was tuned, the tuner would raise the boost as they were adjusting the Zemulator fuel and timing maps until they hit the knock threshold and then stopped. That is your max setting on the boost controller. You can change your boost controller settings, but if you don't know what you're doing, it's risky. On my GReddy Profec, I have a high and low boost setting I can toggle between. They are set by the user, in my case, I had Specialty Z tune the car and set the hi/lo boost values. I toggle between them on the fly. What type if GReddy controller do you have?
