| revolutionary development in propulsion or energy production for a long time, something that literally changes the way society is structured....printing press, internet, anti-biotics, etc....and those types of breakthroughs are LESS likely to happen when government interferes with market forces and mandates economic activity, mandates what should be researched, gov needs to be an ENABLER, but instead it wants to be in charge because ultimately government is nothing but a ever growing, unsustainable, group of humans...as flawed as the rest of us. At the core, the automobile is nothing more than a overgrown horseless carriage, we used to use animals to propel them, now we can make engines to propel them. All the breakthrough have been in the GADGETS we laden these carriages with. The auto industry is practically impossible to crack into in any meaningful way....EVEN TESLA in all its supposed glory is diversified into many many other areas because making cars simply isnt profitable in this environment unless you can convince people to buy something relatively cheap to manufacture for a huge markup ......like a $70k F150......which Tesla doesnt have in its model line. So we are FAR less likely to see any sort of a breakthrough because necessity breeds innovation, and the pursuit of profit for one's efforts motivates those who can innovate, to attempt. Anyone who tells you money is the root of all evil is a marxist antagonist seeking to pitt people against each other and tear down the successful in order to curry favor with the unsuccessful for the benefit of the marxist's thirst for control/power. This has been played out across the entire world for the better part of 120 years now. You'd think we'd learn, but our public education system has become little more than an indoctrination apparatus for these authoritarians.
