They look like the designer did not consider the fact that the force acting on the brake pads is offset from the mounting ears on the knuckle and thereby puts the brackets in direct bending. They also look like the designer did not consider the stiffness of the bracket to be important, which it is for keeping the caliper properly aligned to the rotor when loaded under braking.
