Message I doubt the TT oem clutch is THAT much stiffer that the linkage/pedal/etc would inherently deteriorate from the extra force.

Maybe deleting it would speed up the deterioration of the pivot bushing, but if you keep tabs on the bushing condition, the worst thing that would happen is that you might need to shell out $6 for a new bushing occasionally.
