Message you are removing material from one side of the shield, thus allowing more light on that side, if it could be done on the car so that the headlight remains fixed perfectly in its original position what you would see is the beam pattern "reversed" by allowing a "higher" (or further down the road) visual cutoff on the side that was originally the "short" side.

If you keep removing shield material that visual cutoff will go up and up and up until you have no material left and the full field of view for the projector is filled with light.

Ultimately you end up having to lower the headlight to compensate because the side you didnt touch affects our driverside.

You are not creating a mirrored piece of the same size to truly "flip" the beam pattern around, you are EFFECTIVELY flipping it around by removing material on one side making it the high side and the other the low. The more material you remove, the less range you have left in the the adjustability downwards or reeling the beam in.
