Making the correction allows less light to be cast onto oncoming traffic (many know and can figure this) but it also allows for more light to shine further down the road on the side directly in front of the car, and also casts light slightly upward on the curb side of the road to better see the curb and street signs etc. While opening and cutting them can be quite the nerve racking endeavor it was totally worth it imo. By trying to simply lower them...which btw doesn't have as much movement as you may think...as the entire projector works on a floating system...ie the more down you go the more to the left it will move the projector etc. Further by not correcting the cut off and by trying to move them down you lose casting light further out...kind of eliminating the purpose of getting better lighting to see at night. Maybe its small details, but correcting them is worth it if you plan to use them a lot. When you cut the shield you only remove one side but it completely flips the cut off so more light is cast up and to the right and less to oncoming traffic. The only need to adjust your projector after reassembly is simply because you may not have installed them at the same level when putting the assembly back together.
