Message	Although, just because there is Nitrogen present, doesn't mean that the steel is hard; its also about the heat treatment/cooling rate of the steel and the micro structure formed. Looking at the base core material, it shows an abundance of carbon(pearlite matrix formed during slow cooling). If this crank was cooled below the critical transformation line the hardness would be well above 600HV.
