(a good reason to not run a larger return line, and to use a fuel pump controller) Having to run the fuel line uphill after the sensor to keep the sensor in fuel seems like a poor solution. Putting the sensor in the supply line may restrict flow, and if it's between the fuel rail and the regulator it could affect how well the fuel regulator controls pressure in the fuel rail.
