Message is integrated with the radiator does help to bring the transmission up to temperature faster. To do just a standalone cooler isn't the best thing. Most setups I have seen run the standalone cooler in series with the integrated radiator cooler. Personally, I'd like to have it thermostatically controlled so the trans fluid only passes through the standalone cooler after a certain temperature.
