The 2/4 band failed and car only drives in first gear and reverse. Not sure what other damage has been done. Z1 Upgraded Auto Trans with rebuilt torque converter shipped is ~$2000 + labor for the swap and includes sending the core back. Base Specialty Z Auto Trans is $2500 without torque converter, shipping is unknown and requires the core to be sent back. I tried calling to find out the shipping cost and was told they're on the road doing their dyno tour. Assuming $200 each way it'd be ~$2900 + labor and no torque converter. Local trans guy has a great reputation and estimates between $1800 to $3300 for parts and labor. Price depends on the quality of parts he replaces in the trans. Comes with 3 year warranty. How long does it take to swap out a trans with a lift and proper tools? Is there some other option I ought to consider? Thanks in advance for your input.
