I doubt many people on this forum have done it, judging from the variety of responses. I've done it. It's a headache, but I went on to drive the car daily as my DD for 8 years, so it was definitely worth it. Make sure you can get inspection sheets for any of the Z's you are looking to import, and learn to read them (ie, translate the kanji pertaining in inspection sheet). If you can't get inspection sheets, don't bother bidding on the car. Also, try to finder a broker Japan side with a good reputation, if it's possible to even find out. Definitely do not buy a Z with an inspection grade beneath 3.5. Aim for 4. You will not find anything 4.5 or 5. I imported from Nagasaki - plenty of good sellers there.
